New changes on the horizon!

There have been many new things brewing over here. First and foremost there will be a new division to Splendid Photography. I will start offering Boudoir sessions. I'm currently working on the new website which will remain separate from the current website. Second, since I'm creating a new website for the Boudoir division I have decided to change up my current website. I'm very excited that my website and blog will be all in one. This will allow me to keep up with my blog and revise my website all at the same time. I also will have a shopping cart options which will allow you to place an order straight from my site. No more sending emails back and forth. Proofing of photos will also be handled directly at the site (password protected, of course).

I hope to not have any downtime when changing the site over but I know that might not be possible. So I just wanted everyone to be aware.

Please look for the new site within a couple of weeks!

Mr. A

I had the pleasure of working with 1 yr old Mr. A (Happy Birthday!). He is such a cute little man! His mom is someone I went to High School with so it was nice to catch up and see what has been going on for the last XX years(you didn't think I would tell you the actual years I have been out of HS did you?). Thank you for allowing me to take pics of your adorable son!

Rain Rain Go Away...

The weather is not being very nice to me. All I want are some warm days. It doesn't have to be sunny. I just don't want it cold and rainy. Luckily, I have a great little space in my home that I'm able to do photos for newborns and babies (non-crawlers).

Yep I'm baaaaccccckkkk! I had my 1st session since my maternity leave this past Sat. While the weather temps were perfect the skies barely held out for us to take pics. So here are Mr. G's 1 yr pictures in between raindrops.

Babymoon is over.....

Well the Babymoon is over with I will be returning to the normal scheduled program :) It has been a wonderful few months spending time with my new baby and my daughter.

Im ready for the spring to arrive and photos to be taken. So this mean appointments are being taken for the Spring/Summer months. Please keep in mind that I only take one appointment on the weekends so if there is a weekend you are interested in please call or email me at splendidphotography@yahoo.com to reserve your spot.

My last session for the season....

This is my last session until the springtime. It is bittersweet. As much as I love my job, I know my limitations. My unborn child has decided to inflict a lot of aches and pains on me. With that Im not able to move as fast to capture all those great moments. I know it is for the best and I should enjoy my last few weeks with my family.

I promise to keep everyone update on my progress with Baby C. So make sure you stay tuned.

Boys!

After my last session I realized how much I love working with boys. Believe or not but boys tend to be better models. I noticed that they want to pose and smile. They also have ideas of where they think I should take a picture of them. Girls on the other hand usually want to run the other and are not interested in having their picture taken. I would think it would be the opposite but I guess not.

Anyways, I had the pleasure of working with brothers J and N. They worked their charm for the camera. See for yourself :)

I have noticed that most of my clients tend to be girls. Not sure why that is but I love it when I have a chance to have a session with a boy. Especially a cute little boy like Mr. J. He was such a great model even though he came from a long distance to meet with me.

Back from Vacation!

I spent a wonderful week in TX with my parents. My daughter had a great time visiting Sea World. It was good to get away. I just know that Im never traveling with a toddler by myself while being 6 mos pregnant. Not a good combination. :)

I did have a session the week that I left but did not have a chance to post it here on the blog. This is Baby Z. He is the baby from this session:

Where have I been?

I know some of you are wondering where I have been lately. I said in a previous post that I would try to keep up with my blog better but things have been a little crazy here.

I would like to announce that we are expecting a new bundle in Dec. Im over the halfway point and found out that it will be a boy. My session will be reduced due to the fact that I have gotten so big so fast and can barely get up from a sitting position. I will continue to do photoshoots for maternity and newborns till the end, but for children I will stop taking appointments in the end of Sept. If you are interested in a session for you child please contact me soon to schedule a date.

I will resume a normal schedule come spring of 2009.

The C Family

This summer has been been a bit awful. The weather has not cooperated and because of this we have a bazillion mosquitoes EVERYWHERE! This is something that Im prepared to deal with but can make a fun session not so fun when you have to swat at these bloodsuckers every few seconds. Luckily those mosquitoes decided to hold off long enough for me to have a great session with the C family.

The W Family

Im still around but have been slacking on keeping up with the blog. Life has been moving at a rapid speed since the summer has finally arrive. I do promise to do better from here on out :)

Here is a double sneek peek for the W family. They were one of my first clients and they are so great to work with. They are expecting another bundle of joy in the end of July (stay tuned for newborn pics) so this is part of thier maternity session and Miss A's 2 year photos.

Little Boy J and The Non-Working Camera!

This past weekend I was to have a session with Little J. I was so excited to bring "Daisy" out for this session. I get to my clients home (which is beautiful, by the way) only to have technical difficulties with "Daisy". She did not want to perform at all. I do have a backup camera but it was sitting all nice and snug at home. Not much good it would do me there. Luckily my clients were very understanding and accommodating. They had a similar camera to my backup camera. I was able to use my lens and CF cards to proceed with the session.

Little J was such a great model. 6-7 mos is such a great age. They are in the smiley, non-moving stage, but just know they can change their moods very quite due to nap schedules. So it is best to take as many shots as you can before the sleepy monsters come.

Well here is a sneak peek for J's parents. Thanks again for the camera, and just to let you know "Daisy" decided to work just fine the next day. I guess me threatening to send her to the Dr. made her cooperate :)

Little Man J

18 months, I will say is the most challenging age. I truly believe it is the age where you are tested to see if you can survive the 2nd year of your childs life. It is known that most, not all but MOST 18 mo old toddlers have their own agenda. They don't want to take picture, they don't want to sit still, all they want to do is play in the other direction of the camera. My child is almost 18mos and I know what it takes to get the job done.

Little Man J is not the except of this rule. He gave me a challenge but I was able to take it on :)

Sweet Twins!

I just got back from vacation visiting my family in AZ. My sister in law just gave birth to identical twin girls. They are the sweetest little girls. I had fun helping with the feedings, changings and burping. I miss all those little things that I use to do for C when she was that small. I also got to spend more time with my nephew who is 15 mo. He is a smart child. I think he had a great time spending the week with his cousin C. She thought he was funny :)

Here are a few pictures that I took of them the hour before we left to go home. Believe or not I didn't get many opportunities to take their picture as our days were busy.

C and Santa

How many people out there have a picture of you sitting on Santa's lap crying? Im almost sure most of you do. Well C is lucky enough to have many pics of this moment. She has had the pleasure of sitting on Santa's lap twice this year and both times she screamed bloody murder. Funny thing is she was perfectly fine once someone took her away from Jolly Old Saint Nick. I hope he doesn't hold it against her :)

Little Baby A and the Ice Storm.

What a day! I had the pleasure of having a session with beautiful baby A. She is a little over a week old and she is very alert. Holding her sure made me long for the days when my daughter C was that small. Im sure you will see more pics of baby A as her mom is my best friend.

I tried to get as many shots in as I could but didn't get as many as I wanted because of the snowstorm/ice storm that was heading towards the Chicagoland area. I ended up stuck in traffic for 3 hours. Not fun at all. Thank goodness I had a cell phone (recharged too) so I made a few phone calls. Thanks to those that listened to me complain about the weather :)

Today I had the pleasure of shooting the cutest little girls. O is 3 and she was just the best. Loved saying cheese everytime I had the camera to my eye. Her little sister B had the greatest spikey newborn hair. I couldn't get enough.

I have been TAGGED by AmberSheree Photography AND Zoombug Photography. Here are 8 things about me.

1. I hate hate hate latex balloons. Im always afraid they are going to pop and I can't stand the sound. I don't let C play with them as Im afraid she is going to pop them.

2. Im a nail-biter. I go thru phases and will stop and let them grow but something will happen in my life to stress me out and the first thing to go is my nails.

3. My favorite destination on the planet is Mexico. I have been there 3 times and can't wait until I can go again.

4. I have had quite a few jobs. I get bored easily and loose interest in what I do. Thank goodness that photography is ever changing and it will allow me to keep on learning different techniques so my mind will always be challenged.

5. I love to sing karaoke. Granted Im not good, but it doesn't matter.

6. Im terrified of most bugs. Yes I know a lot of people are, but I can't even stand the smallest one. I will scream like a baby when I see one.

7. Im an only child

8. Last by not least, I have major anxiety attacks if Im running late. I was always raised that you need to be to places on time. So if I started to feel like I can't be to an appt 15 mins early I start to panic.

I hope this gave you a little insight to who I am...I hope I didn't scare or bore anyone :)

Fighting with Mother Nature

I guess Mother Nature and I are in a fight. I was suppose to have a photo shoot last Sunday and this Sunday (today). Both them have been rescheduled due to the inclement weather. GRRRRR!

Im also trying to get my daughter C's 1 year pics done but it is not as easy as I had hoped. I think I have "scarred" her from my many countless sessions that she does not cooperate with me. Ahhhh that is the life of a photographer's child :)

1st Birthday!

My daughter C turns 1 on Oct 8th. We are celebrating her birthday this weekend. So with that I have not scheduled any shoots for the remainder of the week. I have so much to do and so little time to do it in. AAAHHH!!!

I will resume my regular scheduled sessions on Sunday :)

Glamour Day

Well today I had a taste of what it would be like to be a fashion photographer. I want to add a different element into my portfolio so my good friend Emily was nice of enough to help me out and be my fashion model. I started editing the session today and I was so excited to see the shots. I know Em is waiting to get a glimpse of what I was able to capture today.

Today I had the pleasure of working with 3 wonderful children. They are all friends. Their mom's wanted to get a group shot of all of them but that prove to be a difficult challenge. As soon as two of them would look my direction the last one would want to climb off the bench. I didn't have much luck in capturing all of them together in a traditional sense. We also didn't have much time as the light was started to fade fast. :(

But to the mom's that are reading this don't worry, I did get some fabulous photos of your children. See the images below :)

Well today I had the day off. Granted I ran around doing errands, but I did have fun tonight with a couple of friends. We went to the Cubs game and Woo Hoo they won!!!

I swear that Mother Nature knows when Im going to have a photo shoot. Today I had a shoot scheduled but it was awful outside. We have rescheduled for Wednesday, so Im keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is nice :)

These are my 2 favorite pics from my last 2 sessions. Both of these children were totally opposites. The little boy was willing to give me smiles from the second he woke up. The little girl not so much. We tired everything to get her to crack a smile but she was much more interested in playing and watching the other children at the playground. I loved watching her and trying to capture her being her. I think I did just that :)

Well I finally joined the blogging world. I never thought I would be here, but yet again I never thought I would start my own photography business which I did a few months ago. I have just launched my new website http://www.splendidphotography.com/ and I decided that I wanted to stay in touch with my clients in a different, more personal way.

I hope that everyone will visit this site often for sneek peaks of sessions that Im working on. I also will post any specials that I am running.
